  This is pursuit of self interest against the national interest. Does the Association think about the cost of their operations to the nation Ghana? What is 5% versus 50% plus a specific duty of 28 pesewas per stick on cigarette? If only the Association would be mindful of the nuisance factor of their products and fact that we are building a nation. Excise taxation is a popular tool in regulating desired outcomes. That's why excise on tobacco and alcoholic beverages in tagged as "sin tax." Let's stop these populist demos. Why stop production for only a week and not a whole year or forever? In the absence of plastic bags and bottles we will find a way. These days plastics constitute a whopping 40% of trash. This cannot continue.

  I'm wondering when we us a people will learn that demo do not solve anything. We have been doing demo since 1947 no better results. What they need is to sit down and forget a proper resistence to this.
