Eiiiii, so these idiots are everywhere exhibiting their usual NPP foolishness which has seen this country's economy destroyed by their clueless leaders!!! Just imagine the senseless comments they always make when brainy people of knowledge and character give scientific opinions on raging issues. What will a 3-weak training of semiliterate and illiterate Kaayayos do when experienced and well-grounded people who have been in those business areas for years are now finding it difficult to survive, with majority of them closing down their businesses? I can bet my last pesewa that over 90 percent of them will return to the Kaayayo business in 2 to 3 months. The best would have been for them to be relocated to their hometowns, and given startups for farming or other small businesses that would be useful in their communities. Ghana is now so doomed that when people of knowledge, wisdom and charater speak, we have riff raffs, idiots and empty head zombies come out in ther NPP fashion to counter and condemn them. It's such a shame.

No wonder PhD holders are fleeing Ghana to bath 90 year old angry British women abroad. If all the girls in the north flee to Accra to do Kayeyei are they not Ghanaians? Do they need visas to travel to Accra? So Bawumai should go and build kayayei hostels in all the towns up north? What for? How many people do kayayei in the little town Totobi? The intellectuals in Ghana have really failed this country. The hostel thing is an intervention to help some of those poor girls who come to Accra. It is not a substitute for other policies. And even if one girl is successful through the program, it is a successful. Go to advanced countries and see food banks, pantries and drug rehabilitation hostels at city centres. We need our PhD holders to speak with facts and empirical research findings. Enough of the nonsense!

What the Professor has said makes very good sense. Building free hostels and organising free training programs for the Kayayie in Accra, will certainly encourage young girls to move to the city, instead of trying to make it in their Home areas. It is a big surprise that the "Economic Wizard" did not see it fit to use this money (plus more even) to invest in rural based economic ventures (such as small scale agro-industries), and set up technical training programes for these youth in the rural areas. With programs like what is being run for the Kayayies, Accra will become more and more chocked (with its attendent social problems), and the rural economies will not develop fast enough to provide economic opportunities for the youth. Besides, these 'trained' Kayayies will struggle to find employment opportunities in Accra, just like is happening to the othe youth.

Incompetent Aplanke Bawumia has no vision. That programme is nothing but an election year timed deception to garner votes. All Bawumia has done is pour a bucket of honey on the street and not having the sense to know that such an act only attracts more ants. Bawumia knows exactly why many of these kayayei troop to Accra: blind adherence to a culture practice condones men having as many wives as they please, resulting in children with parents in an area of low employment opportunities having to result to seeking menial work in other regions. The same goes for a religion that sanctions the marrying of four wives, and this too often sees many men who can barely afford to care adequately for one wife and two children ending up with households of many children, and these children grow to have little education or none at all, and with hardly any skills. If the kayayei problem is the be solved, the leaders will have swallow a bitter pill and start letting the people from the affected areas understand what practices are leading to their children becoming kayayei. The root cause of kayayei must first be addressed, and programmes established in their regional communities to assist young girls with job skills. Following certain cultural and religious practices without considering the repercussions is a contributing factor to the ever production of potential kayayei in certain communities. practices
