In the course of my work which often involved close contact with people from diverse backgrounds and races I never ceased to note the following harsh facts. 1. Aging parents who toiled day and night to raise their children, provide for them and sacrifice to make their children comfortable sometimes had a "raw deal" from these same children later in life.
Over a few decades I found that roughly a third of grown up children brought up in a certain Western country tend to be very devoted and caring of their aging parents. Another third are lukewarm or not too involved with their ailing aging parents even when they only live a few miles away. The remaining third of children show varying degrees of hostility and even "beastly"
behaviour towards old and vulnerable parents whom the view as a nuisance.
IT IS A PAINFUL FACT OF LIFE AS YOU RIGHTLY NOTED THAT SACRIFICING ONE'S SELF ON BEHALF OF OTHERS DOES NOT GUARANTEE A SHOW OF GRATITUDE IN BENEFICIARIES. Often if roles are reversed those who previously showed kindness and generosity are met with coldness and even hostility.
This is why those who are naturally "givers" need to frequently remind themselves that they are not superman or superwoman and if they are not very careful they can allow themselves to become critically depleted emotionally and financially by the constant demands of others. Every year we hear of Ghanaians living abroad who worked themselves to death partly trying to satisfy the never ending demands of relatives and other folk back home. THE FACT THAT A PERSON HAS JUST GIVEN THEIR LAST CENT OR PENNY WILL NOT STOP THOUGHTLESS RELATIVES OR FRIENDS FROM ASKING THEM FOR EVEN MORE ( OFTEN RIGHT AFTER THEY'VE VE JUST EMPTIED THEIR BANK ACCOUNT FOR THESE FOLK) .IT IS TIME THAT SOME FOLK STARTED TO WISE UP. LEARNING TO SAY NO CAN SAVE A PERSON'S LIFE AND HEALTH. FOR ONCE THEY SHOULD ALSO LOOK AFTER THEMSELVES. IF THEY DON'T THEIR RELATIVES WILL KEEP DEMANDING UNTIL THEY LITERALLY DROP DEAD FROM EXHAUSTION OR STRESS..

Betrayal is an age-old human hypocritical disease that will unfortunately continue to be with humans as long as there is life. And no matter hard one tries to be careful or vigilant, there comes a time when evil finally gets a victory, a victory that often results in the betrayer having to swallow the same poisonous pill they earlier administered to their victim.
