Reasons given lack scientific bases. From January to April, we import tomatoes from Burkina Faso and after April, it starts raining in that country. Because tomatoes are sensitive to weather change, they start drying up hence, the shortage in Ghana. The shortage will persist until farmers in Tepa, Dema, Techiman and Wenchi areas start to harvest their tomatoes. To solve this perennial shortages, there is the need to create zones in the southern, middle belt and savanah areas of the country purposely for growing tomatoes and pepper. I bet you, my experience in Navrongo and elsewhere shows that tomatoes and pepper fetch money more than cocoa.
