But there's a huge difference between INTELLIGENCE and INTEGRITY. An intelligent man/woman may not necessarily be a person of integrity. On the other hand a fellow of little intelligence may be full of integrity. Of course a society is highly blessed if her citizens are intelligent and full of integrity. Unfortunately this combination is a rare occurrence in our dear country. Most of the intelligent people are the very corrupt ones.

Sekou Nkrumah is spot on with his analysis. I am now in my late fourthies. Many just didn't joined the PNDC which eventually metamorphosed into NDC but were indoctrinated with the revolutionary ideology of probity and accountability. Late President Rawlings and a few NDC gurus were genuine with their anti-corruption stance and policy of the PNDC and later NDC. Somebody like our only true Honourable Martin Amidu have been very consistent in this regard. I know of many Senior Cadres who upheld the principle of probity and accountability to their own detriment because they died as paupers. The NDC is very good example of a Party with highly heterogeneous membership in which people joined the Party for equally varied reasons. Some joined the Party ostensibly to engage in corrupt practices and enrich themselves using the Party as a vehicle. Others joined because of the socialist ideology of standing for social justice by the Party. However, the key problem of the. Party is indeed corrupt leadership and I am not even talking about those with the opportunity to serve as Presidents who didn't or refused to implement strict anti-graft measures consistent with the Party's social democratic ideology. I fully agree with Dr. Sekou Nkrumah that the NDC lost huge grounds with its grassroots and the poor masses because of drifting away from its anti-corruption and social justice stance for which the Party struggles to win elections in recent times. Nonetheless, the very person who mirrors gargantuan corrupt tendencies in the NDC is the oldest member of Parliament and only Speaker from an opposition Party is Alban Bagbin. It is a shame that we have the worse Parliament superintending over all manner of shaddy, scandalous and corrupt deals under Mr. Bagbin's leadership when naturally a Speaker from an opposition Party should be holding executive government in check. Alban Bagbin indulge in corruption and graft with an evil and callous touch where he goes after discerning voices critical of his conduct. He will make sure he uses institutional structures and systems to torture you with dismissal, financial and economic sanctions and if possible exterminate you.
