It is interesting how people with a few letters after their names suddenly become experts in everything from Archaeology to Zoology. You may write and pontificate on all sorts of disciplines but implement same in the real world is not the same. A bit of honesty and acceptance of the fact that things don’t always work smoothly in international economics and diplomacy will help us. It’s sad that those who feel on top
Of the education ladder and who must be honest are the ones who throw dust into the eyes of the public. Loads of ordinary economists without development bias just throw out rubbish. Hypocrisy must be replaced with honesty and integrity. GYIMIE NE NKWASEASEM NO DOSOO DODOW

I had the privileged to listen to greater part of your brilliant lecture on ' Mindset Revolution ' in Africa , specifically in Ghana at the British Council in Accra on Joy TV. Recommendations were also commendable but I think a good and genuine leader to lead the ' Mindset Revolution ' is what is lacking in Ghana. With a Ghanaian like you and many with such mindset I have confidence that Ghanaians will one day take our country back from these few greedy and dangerous politicians.

Well, we get the maths wrong with most of these things. Those low percentages are those coming in to the accounts of the state. They bargain very well so that they get a lion share. I was with a friend when he brought in an investor to help with the growing of cassava in a village. He estimated to add a starch factory. Guess what happened, the negotiations went that the DCE would be a permanent shareholder in the company with 40% stakes. Even when he leaves office, his name would still be there. should he die, his next of kin would take over. The rest of the money that would come to the state is 5%. Mr. Farouk Wahab confirmed a similar situation at Onua FM with captain smart.
This is who we are.

It is actually not peculiar to Africa. It is an essential element in modern economics of Perfect Competition. It does bring with it the element of diminishing returns.
It cerntaily affects Africa negatively, but it is not specific for Africa only. One would have loved to change it, but it is not that easy.

It is bcoz African politics is dirty and no accountability. Government officials negotiate deals and receive kick backs to enrich themselves while in government. This is the singular reason we most oftentimes give away our resources for next to nothing. The greed and selfishness is too blatant.

Yes, it is only in Africa that demand and supply doesn't work because our leaders and the buyers selfishness will not let it work. Classic example of colonialism.

That's happening only because of our governments are run by highly mis-educated thieving entitled politicians ever ready to give away the house for just enough money to line their pockets. African leaders never do their homework on these foreign companies coming in to do business, but those foreign companies always conduct extensive studies about the potential business as well the local players involved. Can't responsibly represent one's country when one fails to properly apply the education in that they spent years acquiring. Nor can the country benefit from its resources when greedy leaders are the ones holding keys to the fort.
