See some fools defending ineptness and incompentence, when prof Mills and Mahama were president's respectively, they were controlling the dollar isn't it? What the your brainless braggadocios vice president say about them and the then currency rates? I pity fools like u, always defending any stupidity at your own expense, Bawumia will never suffer even if the rate shoots up to 50 cedis to a dollar, it's ur stupid self and family that will keep on suffering, so defend it.

Wonders shall never end! With the benefit of hindsight, I have come to the realization that we Ghanaians have been very unfair to John Mahama and his NDC government. I remember with deep regrets, the public sentiment against JDM in the run up to the 2016 elections. Those were the days of incorruptible Nana Akufo-Addo and brilliant economic wizkid. Alhaji Dr Timothy Mahamudu Bawuliar, engaging in subterfuge and outright deception to demonize a regime they made us believe was incompetent. Ghanaians of all persuasion joined the bandwagon to vilify a president whose wrongdoings were nowhere as grievous as what we are having to witness today. And you these traders were conduit for that vile political campaign even at a time Mahama was investing heavily in infrastructure like ultramodern markets, E-blocks, CHPS compounds, Regional hospitals, energy projects etc. Everybody including CSOs, clergy, media houses and even some civil servants were up in arms. If this same energy had been channeled towards holding Akufo-Addo-Bawuliar government's feet to the feet of accountability, we would not be where we are now. Better late than never though.

Cut down on unnecessary importation and increase value added goods and services to stabilise the currency. Dollar is not our currency.

A policy option which relies solely on moral suasion as key to shaping people's tastes and preferences is as empty as a Christian sermon to a Buddhist. The overriding motivation of every business is to maximize profit through increased revenue and reduced costs. Government's import substitution drive must be targeted at incentivising businesses with stimulus packages whilst reducing cost of doing business in the country, so that consumers can patronize locally produced goods and services that are of the same quality as imported goods. Merely appealing to citizens to patronize made in Ghana goods is simply a lazy man's approach. What percentage of import substitution has been achieved by the 1D1F flagship program? So much for 'we have the men's bullshit!
