It's very sad that Ghana a country of nearly 70 yrs of independence keep wasting taxe payers money on free biometric voters cards for it's citizens when they turn 18 yrs but refuses give these same youths free biometric national identity cards. Even the developed countries who has more resources don't have a separate document to cast their vote during elections other than their national identity cards.
This a total waste of scares recourses because the data on the national identity card is the same data on the voters card. How much Ghana waste in changing voters cards, doing limited registration in every election year or every 4 to 8 yrs is far more than what this government went to IMF for.
Why can't we reform our electoral laws to compel every electoral commission to use national identity cards as only eligible document to vote in Ghana. This will forced political actors to sanitized the national identity cards register and also reduced the cost of holding an election in this country. After all if we can give free voters cards to over 11 million eligible voters in every 4 to 8 yrs then we can give free national identity cards to our youths who turns 18 yrs and are eligible to vote. This are bills that our members of Parliament are supposed to pursue to save this country from unnecessary expenses.
