  The GNPC should also establish model schools in areas with oil infrastructure and deposits. VRA should do the same for areas affected by the project Volta river. The Diamond Marketing board, the Mangenese Board, the Mineral Commission etc. The point being that, our resources are now diverse and in different locations. Human resource is also an important factor of production. There should simply be a national policy instead this ill thought of bias program. Human mobility is also high.

  It is not helpful to be always political. You can’t get any problem solved with this kind of attitude. The simple fact is that, since independence, we have had governments who have been abusive and corrupt, and have not made any real attempt to lay a solid foundation on which the country can develop, without interference with criminal individuals and groups. There is no money to continue the scholarship scheme because we are broke. We need to sit up and check what our government does irrespective of our parties. No need whatsoever to praise a government knowing how bad it is performing, and I am not referring to this government only.

  It’s time all other scholarships were abolished as well. Most of the beneficiaries are relatives of program officers or high level politicians. The wards of poor farmers never get selected. In addition, almost all scholarship recipients that go overseas for higher education never return to Ghana after graduation. The average Ghanaian has nothing to gain or lose whether there’s no scholarship program.
