Your narrative is no longer true. The Dutch for example are currently making alternative plans for pensioners from Ghana to relocate back to home to enjoy rest of their lives. In Kumasi for example, they are busy constructing homes around Agric. The pensioners will live in those flats or whatever you call it and this will be paid by part of their pension. Medical care and others will be provided. Based on research, this has been seen as a win win situation where pensioners enjoy the home sweetness you talk about but also save costs in maintaining them in the Netherlands. They want to avoid the UK situation where they have to import nurses.

Notwithstanding, that boy is a villager, he’s all over gracing his meals with lots of meat and spewing nonsense. I just don’t know what he would have done if he never got the opportunity to travel.

There are lots of inter-country arrangements that make this possible.I am aware of a Ghanaian colleague who has been in retirement in a Western country for nearly a decade .His work pension is worth NEARLY $100,000/annum! He spends most of his time in Ghana and the rest abroad. He has no trouble accessing his pension in Ghana

In any case being a Dutch citizen doesn’t prevent you from relocating to any other country including Ghana to retire. I CONGRATULATE HIM for making a good choice. I was due my Dutch citizenship in 2010. But ive told my family that when i die one day they should bury me with my Ghana Passport because that is what i will present at Heavens Border Entry to get my stamp into heaven.

I was due my Dutch citizenship in 2010. But ive told my family that when i die one day they should bury me with my Ghana Passport because that is what i will present at Heavens Border Entry to get my stamp into heaven.

So yes im now given an automatic 10yr Residence Permit every 10yrs.

The mere face that i will have to apply for a visa to go to Ghana does nit make psychological sense to me.

And having a Ghana Passport has not made any difference to me. I bought my appartment 20yrs ago in Amsterdam with my Ghana Passport and in 4yrs time i will finish paying for it. Bought it for €120,000 its now worth €390,000. All on my Ghana Passport.

The only thing i cannot do with my Ghana Passport is to vote in the Dutch elections. I dont care as long as i can vote in tbe Ghana elections at Maamobi with my Ghana Card im happy.

The Dutch Passport on its iwn means nothing. Its the individual behind it. The harsh teality is that 80% of Ghanaians with Dutch Passport in Holland live below poverty level as the Dutch defines poverty.

Simply because they never take advantage of what comes with a powerful Passport such as a Dutch Passport. They never take advantage of the subsidies andcfree education to get a good skill and improve yourself. In most cases the same way they came from Ghana is the same way they are 10, 20yrs after acquiring Dutch citizenship only to rely on the Dutch welfare system. This is why the Dutch aretightening their system and dont want us. Not that thry are racists but just that they dont want to take you on as their burden.

So good luck my friend but make good use of the opportunity and let the Dutch be happy knowing Ghanaian citizens given Dutch citizenship adds vale to their life instead being a liability as most of us currently do.

On paper, you're now a Dutch citizen, but in actuality does those white people recognize you as one of their own? The painful answer is NO. There will be a time that you will realize that and you will see that you are actually NOT a citizen of that country. Some of us have been American citizens for years, holding 2, 3 or 4 American passports, and the difference is still clear as day and night. Congratulations on your citizenship, but always remember that you're an African in a European country and you will always be treated as such irrespective of being a citizen of that country.
