The survey could have provided a clearer perspective by asking for the Party affiliations of the responders.
It will be logical that some members and supporters of the party in power will want to stop unsavoury criticism of their government by the media. This reasoning is faulty because they forget that they could be in the opposition at a different time and the same regulation could apply to them.
The distribution of the supporters of the 2 parties is give or take about 50% split.
The fact that 24% sided with controlling the media shows that quite a large percentage is conscious of the general implications of suppression of free speech.
However, a functioning and informed democracy should have less than 5% who believe that the Press should not be free.

MISLEADING HEADLINE
Stupid headline. Instead of giving the headline that majority said media should be free, you are talking nonsense.
