  Who on earth will like to work and not enjoy properly during retirement. My biggest problem is salary structures in Ghana who determines what. At the time I was leaving office not too long ago working in one of these reputable company a degree holder pay falls below 3000 how can he plan for his retirement. Unless he joined the corrupt wagon. My advice don't come on retirement without having your own house no matter what. The capital today is choked and most expensive so better build in your lovely village or home town to avoid land litigations. At certain age you will realize the capital cities are not for you. I will advise the youth to strive to be their own payers not relying on state work for employment. Relying on payroll all your life is like planting poverty.

  The economic situation in Ghana demands that those in employment both private and public start preparing early and wisely for their later years. Refusing to tackle the financial challenges that we could face during retirement and sometimes well before that (due to unexpected illness or unexpected economic downturn affecting your business ) could result in unnecessary stress,despair and a feeling of hopelessness.
  Every responsible person should have been preparing dilligently from the earliest working life (from at least our mid thirties). Yes in the process we may suffer some setbacks but these should not stop us starting all over again if need be.It is better to start preparing late than just siting there helplessly. HONEST hard work,living frugally (economizing),planning carefully with a cooperative and supportive spouse is key to success. Prayers alone will not solve our problems. Even miracles require some collaborative effort on our part.God will only usually give us opportunities if we ask Him for a bigger income or salaries. He will give us opportunities to work harder and more strategically. In answer to our prayers he may give us opportunities to study and improve our skills so that we can eventually earn more,save more and invest more etc etc.THE OPPORTUNITIES HE GIVES US MAY SOMETIMES LOOK SMALL YET WHEN TAKEN WILL LEAD TO MUCH BIGGER THINGS.

  Sure it's very good advice to get own house before retirement . It's not easy to build in Gh of late if you are salary worker earning say 2000ghs and having wife and children. In basic economics Y (income) > E(Expenditure = Savings. It's only the grace of God that will translate one's efforts into prosperity especially when one is in Gh. Ghanaians elsewhere are able to put up a decent house when they are working as a cleaner. A reasonable person in the cities have the notion to build but......
