The beginning of your contract is when parliament approved your appointment , and as a civil servant it expiring date is the very day you reach the compulsory retirement age.
any payment as salary or benefit paid to him or her, after reaching the compulsory retirement age is deemed illegal.
That is the reason if your boss want you to stay , he must give you a new contract and state categorically the start of the new contract

Good. Civil society must continue to apply unrelenting pressure on the legislature, judiciary and executive branches of Ghana’s government to keep them honest. I can honestly say I lost faith in the judiciary system in the 80’s when justices at the various levels of our court system took the posture that they do not care about the welfare of Ghanaians because of their positions in office. I also blame the legislature for shirking their responsibility as gatekeepers of the purse; their sole purpose of their part in the 3-legged system of governance. The history of Ghana’s inefficient, inefficient and corrupt legislature is every bit the proof why Kwame Nkrumah’s ideal of a nonpartisan legislative body makes sense. A partisan legislative body has enabled the president to corrupt the judiciary to the point where a shameless CJ, Ms. Kotornoo can proudly delegate unto herself the arbiter of truths and lies, what is important or not important and in so doing blurred the line between fairness and bias despite her depraved definition of Ghanaian citizenship. Ride them and ride them good.
