This is my story. I had always been a good and law-abiding student. We were in the final year on the first day of our final exams. Some people owed the school so we were as asked to produce our receipts as evidence of payment before we were allowed into the exam room. While we were still held outside the exam started. Some students became agitated and one said 'the headmaster could go and chew the exam papers, he cared the less'. The headmaster asked us to reveal that student but we all refused to be a Judas. He took down our names. This caused me my first choice of sixth form. He had written a very nasty testimonial on my sixth form card. This is how vindictive some headmasters are. He was there with us, he couldn't pick out that student but he expected us to be able to so. You must always give a fair and balanced reference. Don't only see the negative.

Yours is better!
The principal of our College hated me for three years and put all other masters on my back because of one HUGE misconception: He thought I was the reason he couldn't get a colleague student he so much wanted to sleep with! He made my College life miserable.
The lady wasn't even my friend at all. We became "close" for just the two days we went for our very first teaching practice and on our way back to campus, she held my hand. We had got good marks for our work during class moments and she was pretty happy. The principal saw it and formed his opinion on that. The lady warned he was going to hate me, thinking I was impeding his advances of access to her. The rest was history.
Among other things, I was begging to be supervised during the following teaching practices, and lots of other bad stuffs. Because he needed sex so badly and Maggie refused him. He didn't want only Maggie, but several other girls in the school!

Kwane, you are a fuuul. This is the behaviour of most adults in Ghana that is why the country is not progressing. Young people are put under your care, instead doing a good job of it, many steal the resources for good running of the schools. When a young adult speaks up, you become the bad one. Those that come up with weird reasons why they must tow the line are declared the best behaved. This new generation will fight hypocrisy which has blocked our development.

It’s not about what my headteacher saw about me when I was in school, let me tell you what happened since you wank to know.
I only remember “the headmaster at my time instructed me to collect money from the class (Purpose of that money is: teachers appreciation and for easiness/assistance during the exams), after collecting the money, headmaster instructed me to keep it until he tells me what to do. But then some of my teachers including my assistant headmaster who had become the headmaster at the time of collecting the testimonial, and I told them all in their face, “I can’t release a Pesewa unless I hear from the headmaster’s own mouth.”
Later, I heard that there was no fairness in sharing the money and that teachers got less while the head had more. (Means Master abu teachers no)
I also heard I was the reason why teachers got a smaller share because if I had given the money to the teachers when they asked for it, they would have sat with the headmaster for equal shares.
But this is my main stance,
1. I was instructed to take money from my class members by the headmaster.
2. The same headmaster told me not to give out the money to anybody without his consent.
3. Some teachers and assistant headmaster started asking for it but, can I give them the money without hearing from the headmaster?
4. I simply did not give anyone the money though I was pressured and insulted by most of my teachers, I cared not.
5. I completed school, came back 3 years after for a testimonial and i am described as "Disrespectful and Ungrateful".
Annexed: If my conscience serves me right, I still do not understand this testimonial, but we move.
Let me know if telling the truth and standing by the truth should make me disrespectful and ungrateful?

Well, it will be sadly unfair to judge the student only based on what we have read in this document without knowing the background of what may have transpired between both parties. I think we must give a fair hearing to the student even though we expect the headmaster to act in all truthfulness. What if both parties scrambled over the same girl for a dating opportunity? Who can we trust in this evil world led by shameful deeds of multiple sins ? But then IF it is as its stated in this testimonial then it sucks. Funny enough to err is human.....the end may justify the means....no one knows tomorrow.....Africans usually equates CONFIDENCE to disrespect.....After all the headmaster is not God to determine someone's future with a bitter-filled testimonial......as if the headmaster hasn't done same before. Mr Headmaster, you must be ashamed that your higg esteemed Christian school didn't have cutting edge foundations powerful enough to transform this aspiring student....Both the school and the headmaster needs another water baptism.

The story seems to act like a moving target. Initially he said he was in a hurry. Then he later stated that it was late so he went to the embassy the next day. From the narration, it sounds like the envelope was sealed. He took it to the embassy and submitted it; and the embassy staff called him later to return to the embassy. He was shown the testimonial and was asked to explain. He gave some vague and self-serving answers. If the embassy staff wanted to know much about the content, the best person to ask would be the headmaster who wrote it, and not the student.

Back in the early 90s, a student pursuing an innovative masters programme at the Mechanical Engineering Dept. of the then UST in Kumasi, left the programme unceremoniously for the US. He had no regard for the school of authorities to even inform them about his decision to leave.
When he was in the US, he needed references at a certain stage and forms were sent to the department. The then head was truthful and pragmatic that the gentleman was a brilliant student but added that he was unreliable and could not be trusted.

Yes, such testimonials were possible in the past but as far as I remember, they have been against the law for 40years plus- you cannot give a person a negative testimonial. It can only be positive or neutral in order to reduce human subjectivity and enable him/her an opportunity in the future.

May God be with you Isaac. You have done well. Most of the time the head teachers always want their students to fail in life. Every teacher has to behave like a parent .you do not have to get cross with the student. What the teacher failed to know is that a student cannot think like a matured man or woman. When We were in school we did so many things that were not good but that is how the nature is. During that time our age group had different way of life altogether. What the teacher might think will be better for us(students )we could not see it in that way and when it happened in that way the teacher might think that you are insubordinate or disrespectful.

Should the Headmaster have rather lied about the true character of his ungrateful and disrespectful student? Let's be real. He has been with this student for three years!
LGBT is part of Ghanaian culture and values.
This is my story. I had always been a good and law-abiding student. We were in the final year on the first day of our final exams. Some people owed the school so we were as asked to produce our receipts as evidence of payment ...

That can never be victimization. It is truth being told. Stop your nonsense and live upright lives. You like corruption too much........
No, the headmaster is wrong. You can refuse to give a reference but you cannot give a bad reference.
Don't you think it is funny this boy never said anything about how he was in school?
He couldn’t accuse the headmaster of lying? He only said the bad aspects of how students are treated. The headmaster wrote the truth. But he could have refused to write the testimonial.

I think we have rather heard the student's side of the story, we need to know what made the headmaster wrote that about the student. Some students? Hmmm!
Exactly. Africans equate confidence with disrespect and pride. The timid ones are most useful in corrupt systems.
See my post above and see if I was wrong. It's the gospel truth.

Why should the teacher be criticized? That is opinion. Ghanaians are taught to lie from their youth. If to him he was disrespectful and ungrateful should the teacher say otherwise. This country is full of corrupt individuals.
