The simple truth about Ghana's power crisis, aka dumsor, is that it started way back in the Rawlings era. To address it, he built the 400 MW Aboadze Thermal plant. When it happened in the Kuffuor Era, he brought in pastors to pray at the Akosombi dam site for a miracle to occur; he also bought 30 pieces of One megawatt (1MW) diesel generators which Wreko Brobbey termed "toy machines". He also initiated the Bui dam at the tail end of his administration which he never really started on ground. The next time was when it happened in the Mahama era. John Mahama is the only president who decided to tackle the problem holistically and have it solved once and for all, no matter how long it took. At the end of it all, he added a whopping over 2,000 MW to the national grid, something that is unprecedented in our history. By the beginning of 2016, dumsor had been completely solved. The Nana Addo NPP inherited a dumsoe free country with so much power that they started complaining that Mahama had saddled them with excess power. Mahana alss set up ESLA fund to pay any energy debts aonthatbthe country is not saddked with unnecessary debts to the powet companies. Now 7 years into their NPP administration, they have so mismanaged the sector to the extent that we are now having power challenges again. This is despite the sonmuch excess power they inherited, and ESLA that had even made available to them to pay off any debts, and resolve other financial issues. The energy legacy debts which should have by now been paid off with ESLA, is now over 1.5 billion dollars. Meanwhile, Nana Addo has not added anything to the national grid in his7 years in power. Overall, Mahama will go down in history as the president who has done more in the energy sector since Nkrumah. Nana Addo and the NPP did not inherited any energy problems; in fact, they got so much power from Mahama that they even went to town complaining of excess power they did not want. In spite of this, they have succeeded in sending Ghana back into energy insecurity and power crisis. That is the truth the NPP does not want Ghanaians to know. They are a bunch of liars who play on the minds of innocent people and the ignorant to spread falsehood and misinformation. They are corrupt, incompetent, reckless and very divisive. Nobody should ever take them seriously.

In spite of economic hardships, NDC hasn't come out to accuse their opponent that the current dumsor is due to shortage of gas or there is no money to buy gas.
