The U.S. started providing free iPads, Chromebooks and laptops to students during the pandemic. Lower grades (pk-3, pk-4, kindergarten) tended to get the iPads. Even if a student already had his or her own device, they could still get a device.

The distribution of the devices was handled at the local level (state, county, city, school district), not the federal level. The federal government did distribute COVID funds for local governments (which include school districts), to use as they saw fit.

Many school districts in America also provided free InternetWi-Fi service to students who did not have it during the pandemic. Most already had it, but certainly not all, especially in rural areas.

Students were expected to turn in the devices at the end of the school year so that they could be redistributed for the next school year.

These guys failed to provide textbooks for the students. Now they are trying to fool Ghanaians with this nonsense. Textbooks and smartphone, which is more convenient to use? Interestingly, they will provide the tablets to only few schools. How about the rest? By the way, if these students complete their STEM schools with their smart tablets, where will they get the jobs? The tablet can work offline. Textbooks are downloaded on the tablets and one tablet can contain all books. The textbooks are downloaded in pdf. You won't need the Internet.
