Nana you have brought up an issue that troubled many dead mean when they were alive and is threatening majority of men who are still participating in the workforce and some who have retired. How does one build their house in Ghana.
For many the plan is to save enough money to acquire a piece of land, then save some more to contract artisans to build there house.

A brief history of the housing and accommodation subject of Ghana is not that extensive, pre independent the wealthy, the merchants class, local traditional chiefs, industrious farmers and other foreign trained natives had the resources to put to houses and this situations is replete accross most of colonial West Africa.
Then came independent, the first president embarked to an industralisation drive and these industries had to be manned which gave birth to the building to residential areas by the government largely to house the workforce and most units were also build for people that worked in the civil service

So Nana, it's been a very rough ride for Mother Ghana with no concerted effort at anything simply put a haphazard life for most of the citizens.
Housing like job creations and access to social services don't stand in isolation and if Ghanaians decide to take Nation Building seriously i will advise they take the free market approach to housing and accommodation and like one of our former president put it, in todays world the solution to our problems is found everywhere the question is will Ghanaians continued sleeping after our Kwame Nkrumah admonished them not to
