First of all, it suggests that she is an irresponsible person who jumps before she thinks ( as she is currently displaying in this LGBTQ+ issue). How can any serious woman get involved in a sexual relationship without considering the possibility of getting pregnant - or at the very least, getting the man who was reluctant to settle down with her (can you blame him?) to accept responsibility and do the honorable and most important thing of passing his family name to the child?

Secondly, raising a child who bears her own family name - but not that of her biological father, also suggests that our dear old Professor of "higher learning" seems to harbour certain anarchistic tendencies that defy civilized social values and norms (are we surprised?). Should we be surprised if two generations down the line, her grandchildren may grow up to inter-marry and procreate with the grandchildren of her sexual partner?

Thirdly, raising a child without the legitimate right of the child bearing her biological fathers name, not only amounts to a denial of the child's most fundamental and basic human rights but a monumental life-long burden of shame which both the unfortunate child and the mother will carry along with them for their entire lives. For Audrey Gadzekpo to stubbornly - if not foolishly, overlook this very sensitive issue and not gracefully submit to rectify this very serious mistake - if that is what it is, shows clearly how dangerously her thought patterns function.

If these are the kinds of people who we entrust our children to, in an insituation of higher learning such as the University of Ghana, Legon, then how safe are we as a country?
