Ghana HAS ALREADY ABANDONED ITS HEALTH SECTOR WORKERS. How many Nurses and Physician Assistants are sitting at home after completing their various courses at Colleges and Universities??? Please Doctors and Nurses, my humble advice is that: GO TO ANY COUNTRY THAT IS WILLING TO HELP YOU GET YOUR DAILY BREAD. The Professor who's advising you already HAS A JOB. Don't mind her.

If things were okay in Ghana who would want to leave? The country is messed up. The only ones making it are fake men of God, Politicians, Ladies with big buttocks , currupt chiefs and few lucky entrepreneurs. The rest of us are just living from paycheck to paycheck. I know a medical professor who was booted out of his govt quarters a month after his retirement. He had no where to go to. Is this the Ghana you are asking us to love. A country that hates us?

How do you convince somebody who left the country a few decades ago, worked extremely hard and further developed their career while living abroad.Through much discipline ,frugal living, careful planning while abroad they have been able not only to provide for their immediate family but also support their aging parents, needy siblings and other relatives. Keep in mind that this process was not without its disadvantage, setbacks and pain.Let me explain. In the process of helping folk back home, they were taken advantage of by heartless and greedy friends and relatives back home in Ghana. Through this messy business they were still able to change many lives for the better in ways that they could never have done if they were still living in Ghana. Until fairly recently going abroad (to the West) was a very sensible option if you wanted to survive and thrive. Sadly this is no longer guaranteed especially with respect to the traditional destinations in Europe. The economies of most of these countries are in rapid decline resulting in a rise in the cost of living. The reasons are multiple- declining manufacturing capability, an aging population and more recently geopolitical tensions .

Ghana is tackling the healthcare worker exodus the wrong way. Why not levy those leaving so that their host countries can pay back the cost of training of these healthcare workers and then use the proceeds to build more capacity in terms of training places and improvement in in facilities, services, and skills?
We know nearly half of healthcare workers leave. If you are currently pending 100 places for example, use the levy to double that number. You can make revenue for the talent you are creating rate than complaining about the exodus. The highest bidder slays wins. Have register for them so they can continue to contribute from abroad. Doctors practicing else complain that they are blocked from contributing to their communities. Every year, Ghanaian doctors embark on outreach programs to give back to Ghana but most of them are usual frustrated by bureaucratic systems intended to exclude them.

You the deceptive elite leaders have sent your children abroad for better education, advance technology, career development and stable standards of living. Why should the rest of us stay here, if we can also find jobs abroad that enables us to provide the same overseas eduction for our children. Appeal to patriotism will fall always on deaf ears because we all have access to the same travel opportunities and information.

Yaw, I totally agree with you. If people of the medical profession are treated handsomely like our MPs some of who have just basic education but are there because of tribalism, many Health and other professionals will remain in Ghana to work. I am a Teacher by profession and have taught at schools and colleges in Ghana before. Teachers are poorly paid and treated miserably in Ghana. When l had the opportunity to travel to a place where I can have Greener Pastures, did you expect me to stay back in Ghana and be always broke? Imagine how every Politician drives around or is driven around while many university Professors are like KAK DEE, walking to everywhere they want to go or go with dilapidated passenger vehicles.
Guys just vamoose when you get the opportunity to take care of your future and that of your family. Ghana will take care of herself. Make hay while the sun shines. Don’t suffer and struggle for Ghana.

But if the state doesn't appreciate your best efforts, you better leave this country before you become poor.
This country is full of tribal bigots who don't know why they vote. They support politicians to perpetrate fraud on Ghanaians. Currently, the crooked NPP government is leveraging on their ignorant supporters to defraud Ghanaians.
Until we change our reasoning for voting, things will get worse and the youth will have to look for greener pasture.
