Military IS platoon on standby to support was never called on though I could see young able soldiers willing to assist for any eventuality. The pilice only need soldiers when civilians slap slap them

Some of you are hating this man because of his clamp down on institutionalized corruption due to the fact that as a private chartered accountant, he's rich and doesn't need bribes from us the citizens. Most of you are very corrupt and hated by the citizens. Take a survey of the civilian population in Ghana and you'll realize Dampare is everyone's favorite. All this moral is low etc is to allow the likes of you and disgraced Alex Mensah to get into the helm of affairs and like thugs, practice partisan policing. Akronfuo! Well done Bright Oduro. Other retired police leaders must follow this bold example and speak up to save the Service. One wonders why former IGPs like Alhassan, Kudalor, Quaye, Appietu and others are looking on while Dampare is breaking down every pillar of modern police management in the institution. Police commissioners who are still in active service are terribly afraid to counter Dampare because they know him to be an evil person who will go to any lengths to destroy any officer who disagrees with him. Dampare is paranoid and his leadership style is a great danger to the police institution and by extension to the security of the country as a whole. Unfortunately, the Police Council is headed by politicians who prefer to turn a blind eye to the problem because they want to keep favour with the Ghanaian public who have been manipulated to see Dampare as their angel. The new Interior Minister seems to have the boldness to tackle the problem, but he may soon be swayed by the Dampare-controlled public sentiment in the system and back down. Only the retired police chiefs can help now, but there are rumours that Dampare is buying them off! One can only hope and pray that those rumours are not true.

I don’t particularly agree to some of the comments by my old pal. There are more hidden or lingering problems for donkeys years which is not the making of the present IGP. There’s also the absence of a proper Association of Retired IGPs and association of retired Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners of police. These associations should meet at least every four months. These two groups should Not in anyway try to usurp the powers of the IGP but to inform the IGP of prevailing law and Oder problems. Remember “ Once an officer always an officer. “ There is an existing problem of political interference with some officers planted as informants and acting as “agant provocateurs”by some politicians or political parties. I am sure the present IGP is well aware of all these issues and problems but it is overwhelming though surmountable. There are more issues in the police service. Working conditions, accommodations, educational facilities, retirement plans etc.. This is where the Associations of the retired officers come in. Please don’t Blame the present guy.
