The rank of the officer in question is DCOP, the second highest rank in the Ghana police. It is like Lt General in the army. Have you ever heard the military make a press release about disciplining a Lt General? Can’t the police also manage their internal affairs with similar decorum and bring honour to their institution? In any case what the officer said is professionally apt. It looks like the IGP received some political backlash from people who don’t know security and he’s trying to make the DCOP a scapegoat. The IGP must stop this. Recently it was the Accra Regional Commander he queried and put it in the media. When the commander explained himself and also copied the media, the IGP punished him by transferring him from the region to the police service workshop. This callous abuse of the power of IGP needs to be checked before the unexpected happens.

Just this morning I heard a couple of people saying they would definitely need the presence of the military because of the volatile nature of their polling stations.

Wisdom dictates that you don't get the information to your wife through other people that you won't be needing her financial support, ever, after your financial situation improved. What is wrong with a police commissioner assuring Ghanaians of a peaceful election that will be supervised by the police and not the army who Ghanaians know for their brutality and disenfranchisement of other Ghanaians from exercising their voting rites .
If Ghanaians are not assured a peaceful election with police presence to safeguard their safety and it is the military that will supervise the elections, most Ghanaians will refuse to vote because of their brutality.
So the COP was just reassuring Ghanaians about a peaceful election under the supervision of the police.

Police tend to be frontline security providers during certain situations but never solely responsibility.
