More to the point "Frankie" Electrified rail is currently used on less than 1 percent of U.S. railroad tracks, while only a little more than one-third of the trains trains globally are electrified.
In fact many European countries (including the UK )have in recent years been forced to re-introduce retired diesel locomotives BECAUSE OF THE SEVERE SHORTFALL IN ELECTRIFIED RAIL LINES.
