It makes no difference. They are importing cocoa because they cannot get the cocoa beans here due to our terrible inability to produce in huge quantities as we used to do. What a shame.

Cocoa board should stop responding to educated illiterates. This isn't something they should respond to. It doesn't make sense to say we import because of our inability to produce, when in fact we are exporting cocoa. The Cocoa Board's explanation makes sense. If private processing companies use high premium cocoa beans, the cost of production will be high and the prices of products will be too expensive for consumers. Don't you understand this? Would you then say that our farmers should produce low premium cocoa to meet this demand at the expense of what they would get for the high premium they produce? That doesn't make sense. The only sensible and profitable way is to get those low premium Cocoa beans from else. You will turn dumb if you don't stop following NDC propaganda. This is not an issue for politics at all. Dafeamakpor, Joyce, Malik should bow their heads in shame.

This is nonsense. After actively watching COCOBOD management destroy the company years running without advocating for change to eating the produce themselves thereby not releasing it to the market( as a product/market researcher) you can literally count the amount of cocoa products from Ghana in our markets to now forming private companies to cover up their asses by importing cocoa into the country after filing bankruptcy, this country is doomed. Why is this government bent on crippling all the major economic sectors to the ground without intervention? I didn't think this day would ever come. Where as a country are we heading now? This is not about politics. It's about caring for the country which ever present government takes the position. So sacrifices made in the past of the history of this country is now dust.

Factories in Ghana find it difficult to obtain good quality cocobeans locally because it is forwarded traded. What is wrong if a factory imports beans to ensure that it supply of raw material maintains full capacity utilisation. We have been producing premium cocoa and premium petrol for export. Are you worried that we import petroleum for domestic consumption. Even economists such as John Kwakye are confused and think this is a disgrace. It did not start today.
