Hardly anyone in a government capacity in the US make this much, even though the US government is receiving about 20-30x the amount of taxes its citizens pay relative to what Ghana receives from its citizens. There are about at least 500 so-called government officials in Ghana making/stealing about $200K each (with their allowances and all), which amounts $1 billion per year. Now, you wonder why Ghana had to receive a $600 million loan recently from the World Bank, because this money is going to these private pockets of these crooked government officials, and not towards helping in any way to build the nation.

Ghanaians should blame our parliamentarians, remove all of them from office, change the constitution which allows all these nonsense, place every government official including the president to receive just his salary, without all the heartbreaking benefits. Except the president having free accommodation, he should pay taxes just like every Ghanaian citizen, buy his own food and etc. Why should we pay officials and give them everything for free. We should rather help the poor with these benefits. Law makers should change the constitution ASAP with the new president. These things that is not helping the country is what presidential candidates should talk about. I really don’t think former President Mahama will help change the system which has benefited him and his younger brother well.
