The source of Rawlings' problem with Attah-Mills and later Mahama was that they stood up to him against his wish for political prosecution/persecution of these career criminals called the Akyem Sakawa Gang. In some respects, it proved they are their own men. But the benefit of hindsight shows Rawlings was right. Otherwise were would a human rights lawyer like Akufo-Addo be, when under his watch as foreign minister of Ghana tens of Ghanaian citizens were gruesomely murdered in Gambia and till date closure has not been brought to their families. And under his presidency military brutality and killings have been the order of the day. Next NDC government has no excuse whatsoever if they fail to prosecute this people. If they have succeeded in packing the courts and buying the GBA in order to escape accountability, you can do same by using executive power to undo all their machinations. Rawlings was right after all.
