  Laws are great for our lives. But these laws can tend to be dormant and useless if there are no proper measures put in place to ensure their proper enforcent.Fisheries Officers must be adequately resourced to carry out monitoring and surveillance of the fishery resources. When these officers are well resourced then one will have the course to complain when the job is not being done. It is also disheartening and and waste of time for Officials to help arrest individuals who are into illegal fishing such as pair trawling and use of undersized nets only for the culprits to be freed in the long run because of the"who you know" syndrome in Ghana. For illegal fishing to stop in Ghana, it will take the collected efforts of all concerned. Let us help ourselves to ensure that are fishery resources are utilized sustainably.
