KSTS student electrocuted

Kumasi, March 21, GNA - Tragedy on Friday struck the Kumasi Secondary Technical School (KSTS) when a second-year student Michael Sarkodie was electrocuted. He had been refused permission by the school authorities to travel home and he attempted scaling a fence wall with electrified barbed wire mounted on it.

This happened at about 0730 hours and when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) got to the school the atmosphere was eerie. Shocked and distraught teachers and students were seen standing in groups discussing the unfortunate incident.

Sarkodie was reported to have told some of his friends that he was going to Bekwai to collect money from his parents. He was, however, refused permission and decided to sneak out, by jumping over the wall when he got killed.

Mr William Kusi Yeboah, the Assistant Headmaster, told the GNA that the body had been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) mortuary. The Police at Patasi confirmed the incident and said they were investigating.
