Parks and Gardens breathe life

Accra, Aug. 25, GNA - The Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment on Friday presented equipment worth about 400 million cedis to the Department of Parks and Gardens in Accra. The items included: two pick-ups, one motorbike, four mowers, 50 pairs of Wellington boots and 100 pairs of gloves. Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng, the Sector Minister, who made the presentation, said the gesture was in fulfilment of a promise the Ministry made to the Department when he first visited there on his assumption of office.

He said the Ministry was committed to ensure that the Department was given the needed support in terms of logistics to work as the main agent of beautifying the cities and towns.

Mr Asamoah Boateng promised an additional truck to help them in the day-to-day work of the Department and urged the staff to revive their spirit and work hard to increase productivity.

Mr George Afriyie, Director of the Department, commended the Minister for fulfilling his promise and asked for his continual support. He promised that the items would be used for their intended purposes.
