Tema, Aug. 25, GNA - Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment, on Thursday stressed the need for healthy competition among companies to accelerate the country's socio-economic development.
He said it was good for companies to expect competition among themselves, but warned that the competition should not result in conflicts.
Mr Asamoah-Boateng made the call during a visit to Greenview International Company Limited at Tema.
The visit was the result of a publication in the Daily Guide that operations of the company that begins production of cement this year, was adversely affecting the environment. After touring the company, Mr Asamoah-Boateng said "Contrary to the publication, I am extremely happy to see that the company is operating within the confines of the law."
However, he urged management of the company, to put in place safety and environmentally friendly measurers when in full-scale operation for the benefit of the community.
Mr Kwame Siriboe, Managing Director of the company who conducted Mr Asamoah-Boateng round expressed appreciation to him for ascertaining the truth or otherwise of the concerns raised by the newspaper. He assured Ghanaians of quality service and products when the company begun production.
