Professor Charles Ofosu Marfo, a former President of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), has added his voice to the ongoing discussions surrounding a viral video involving the current Assistant Headmaster of KNUST Senior High School, Charles Akwasi Aidoo, who was captured in a compromising situation with a female student.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV on October 6, 2025, Professor Marfo stated that no one is perfect, emphasising the need for individuals to identify their weaknesses and make amends.

He acknowledged that although the Assistant Headmaster's actions were wrong, the matter should be looked at within a broader context to address underlying issues within the educational sector.

"There is no saint in the world. Everyone has their shortcomings and we must work to fix them," he remarked.

Professor Marfo further commented on men's attraction to women, suggesting that it is a natural inclination.

"So, this is a wake-up call to fix things. That's why I'm saying, how old is the child? Look at the background. How old is she? How is her lifestyle? I have even heard that it was through the teacher that they sacked her boyfriend from the school, so it was essentially a punishment for him.

"There are several other incidents like this, but this one just happened to be captured on video. As humans, we must know our shortcomings and work on them."

He added, "That is why, when men say they don't like women, I see them differently because to me… You're not a man if you say you don't like women because every man likes women and is a potential womaniser," he said.

He described the incident as a wake-up call to tackle systemic problems in schools and consider the circumstances surrounding such occurrences.

He also highlighted other challenges teachers face in schools, citing instances where students allegedly harass or attempt to manipulate teachers.

"There are bigger issues that need attention. Some teachers are also suffering in schools at the hands of certain students. For instance, there was a case where a student reportedly locked a teacher in an office, demanding an affair or threatening to frame him if he refused," he said.

Meanwhile, Charles Akwasi Aidoo has been removed from the school following the circulation of the viral video on social media.

In a statement issued on September 29, 2025, the Ghana Education Service (GES) said it had taken the matter seriously and acted swiftly to protect the integrity of the teaching profession and ensure the welfare of students.

According to the statement, Aidoo has been barred from accessing the school while the investigation continues.

The Service explained that the decision was necessary to safeguard a safe learning environment for students and protect the institution's credibility.

The GES assured parents, students, and the general public that due process would be followed, stressing that appropriate disciplinary measures would be taken in line with its code of conduct.

"The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity and well-being of students," the statement read.

The Service reiterated its commitment to protecting the integrity of the teaching profession and emphasised that misconduct of any kind would not be tolerated.
