Aboakyer Golf tees off at Winneba

Accra, April 19, GNA - More than 100 golfers would converge at the Windy Bay Golf Course at Winneba in the Central Region to vie for this year's Aboakyer Open Golf Championship which tees off on Saturday, May 6.

Mr Joseph Eshun-Fameye, Captain of the Windy Bay Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Wednesday, said the one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition, open to amateur golfers throughout the country, is being jointly sponsored by Donewell Insurance Company Limited and Gyatekrom Estates Limited.

He said the event which would be played under the rules of the World's Golf governing body and the local rules of the Windy Bay Golf Club, has Handicap 28 as the entry requirement. Meanwhile Ghana International Women's Club (GIWC) would hold a one-day charity golf competition at the Achimota Golf Course on Sunday, April 23.

Mr Kwame Saarah-Mensah, Captain of the Club said money raised from the competition would be donated to charitable institutions. 19 April 06
