The Headmaster of Kpassa Senior High Technical School (KPASTECH), Rockson Kwame Tawiah, has been removed from office for the unauthorised collection of monies from students.
The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced the decision in a post on his X page on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
“Following the unauthorized collection of GH¢435,000 in student fines, the Headmaster of Kpassa Senior High Technical School, Rockson Kwame Tawiah, has been removed from his position,” the minister wrote.

According to details released by the minister, the headmaster’s removal followed findings by a committee set up by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), which found him culpable for imposing an unapproved GH¢150 levy on each of the school’s 2,900 students.
The headmaster compelled all 860 students who sat for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to pay the GH¢150 fine, threatening to block their results if they refused.
Students who made the payments were issued receipts bearing the stamp of the school’s accountant, confirming the transactions.

"Ghana Education Service (GES) committee found him culpable for imposing a GH¢150 levy on all 2,900 students without consulting the Board of Governors or the Parent-Teacher Association. Tawiah has been directed to report to the Oti Regional Directorate for reassignment, which may not be to a headmaster role, and could face additional sanctions," the statement added.
Investigations revealed that Tawiah personally authorised the illegal fees, enforced payment through threats, and supervised the issuance of receipts, leading to the accumulation of GH¢435,000 from students without approval.
