Property industry goes for award

Accra, March 9, GNA - Ghana Property Awards Limited (GAPOA), a nongovernmental organisation is initiating an award to recognize and reward excellence in the general real estate and allied sectors. The award dubbed, "Ghana Property Award" which is the first of its kind is also intended to encourage innovative real solutions within the property industry and enhance quality standards.

Mr Robert Wegbe of the Property Express Company Limited, made this known at a roundtable by members of the award's planning committee in Accra on Thursday.

He said the last decade had seen significant strides in the real estate sector of the economy as new entrants continued to register as corporate members on a regular basis, reflecting the importance placed on shelter as a requirement for good quality life. "To further consolidate the gains of the sector and emphasize the quality credentials of the industry, there is a felt need to institute an award platform that will recognize excellence and spur industry players on to achieve the same", he said.

Mr Wegbe said the awards would be in categories of Higher Income Property Developer; Middle Income Property Developer, Low Income Property Developer, Best Mortgage Financing Institutions and Services Industry.

He said registered companies with the industry; registered students with relevant training institutions, registered financial institutions and companies in the support service sector would all be eligible for entry.

He said the committee would hold the event by the end of August, 2006.
