The West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) has disclosed that they would bear the full cost of the re-sit of five exams papers that were cancelled on Wednesday.

This was disclosed on Accra-based radio station, Citi FM, by WAEC's Deputy Director in charge of Public Affairs, Mrs. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe; “we are not going to ask parents to pay anything, WAEC is going to fully foot the bill for this (the re-sit),” she said.

She encouraged the candidates to brace up for the rescheduled papers that were slated for 29 – 30 June, “we urge candidates to remain calm and put their thoughts together and to prepare themselves for the re-sit of the papers.”

The examination council issued a statement cancelling four subjective papers (Paper 2) that had all been written, the affected papers were English, Mathematics, Religious and Moral Education and Integrated Science. The yet to be written Social Studies papers 1 and 2 were also cancelled.

Two last papers that the Council went ahead to administer on Thursday and Friday were French and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) papers.

The Bureau of National Investigation is currently investigating the circumstances around the leakage and so far ten people have been picked up, three students and seven others.
