We’re ready to fight, be the training hub for fire security in West Africa – GNFS

Ghana National Fire Service is determined to be the pinnacle of fire safety standards across West Africa.

Yesterday, in collaboration with MHOSEENU, the Ghana National Fire Service hosted a demonstration at the Fire Academy Training School. They unveiled the next step in their plan to become more efficient through technological change, with an exciting demonstration by German fire safety powerhouse Advanced Firefighting Technology (AFT) of their innovative water-mist technology.

The event was attended by various dignitaries including the Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior Adelaide Anno-Kumi, Mr. Andaani of Stanbic Bank, Mr. Agyemang Duah of the Association of Oil Marketing Companies, Mr. Atta Frimpong Addo of Ronor Motors, Mr. Jerry Wesley, of Skytick Technology.

Representatives from Fire and Safety departments across the nation were present including the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Ghana Ports and Harbour, Ghana Volta Aluminium Company, Tema Oil Refinery, Educational Institutions, Embassies, and safety conscious organisations.

The event started with speeches by Rev Edward Kwaku Ashong who spoke on behalf of Chief Fire Officer Edwin Ekow Blankson and the Chairman and Creative Director of MHOSEENU Margaret and Danielli Ofori-Atta. This was followed by the presentation and demonstration of the technology, led by AFT Chairman and Director Engineer Nabil Sa’ad and Frank Fredereich Engleheart.

MHOSEENU is a consultancy firm in Accra, Ghana, that combines strategic thinking and creative excellence to turn possibilities into business results. MHOSEENU is a supplier, exporter, and importer of general goods, works, and services.

Their primary mandate is to encourage innovation and efficiency especially in the field of design and technology. MHOSEENU is committed to driving technological advancement through design solutions that increase efficiency and encourage economic growth. They provide quality services to stimulate change.

AFT’s technology combines water and air resulting in fire extinguishers that are not only more effective but also more portable than their predecessors. AFT utilizes patented water mist technology to provide high extinguishing performance at a low water consumption rate. Their products are recognised as one of the best low-pressure water mist systems available. The company has been hailed internationally for their accomplishments and their environmental safety. Because their product allows for rapid response to fire outbreaks, the AFT systems allow significant reductions in response time, better accessibility, and efficient firefighting. The Performance of the trolley system alone is equivalent to a 1000L fire truck.

AFT has won the TÜV Thüringen, Salon International des Inventions, and Merlion prizes for quality. They boast clients such as Formula 1, Shell Petroleum Company, BMW, KIA, Hyundai, the Hong Kong, Iran, and Nigeria Fire Services, and many others.

The product will revolutionize systems because it increases accessibility allowing firefighters and companies to equip themselves with a rapid response solution to fire outbreaks. This is an especially useful resource for GNFS who will now have the most cutting edge technology to help them respond to fire emergencies more quickly.

With this collaboration, Ghana National Fire Service is cementing itself as a standard of excellence for safety and a training hub for fire security across West Africa.
