Queens to Ride On Bayana Bayana

SLOWLY, BUT surely, the on going 5th African Women Championship (AWC) in Nigeria is gathering momentum.

And when the competition reaches the semi finals tomorrow, Nigeria's Super Falcon will take Cameroun's Indomitable Lionesses in a battle fit for the gods in Warri.

The Nigerians, who finished tops in Group A with nine points after conquering Equatorial Guinea, Algeria and South Africa, are tipped by bookmakers to make it to the grand finale.

The Lionesses, before reaching this far, drew 1-1 in their opening Group B game with DR Congo, lost to Ghana 2-1 and defeated Mali 2-0 in their final Group game.

The Black Queens of Ghana, who went past Mali, Cameroun and DR Congo, finishing first in Group A, take their turn on Wednesday against South Africa's Bayana Bayana in the next semi final clash.

Indications are that, the Ghanaians are determined to throw in much to make it to the grand finale. The two finalists qualify for the 2007 World Cup in China.
