We’ll hold EC accountable on electoral violence – Anyani Boadum

Electoral Commission(EC) will be made to answer for any acts of violence linked to an incredible election after the 2016 general polls, renowned Preacher and founder of the Jesus Generation Church; Rev. Bishop Anyani Boadum has said.

A major fundamental problem highlighted by the preacher is the lack of public access to information from IPAC conversation, noting that the trend is dangerous considering the relatively high stakes in the 2016 elections.

Speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM, Rev. Anyani Boadum said the EC must endeavour to release summary resolutions of every IPAC meeting to the public, insisting that information flow between the EC and the public is problematic.

According to him, the political parties must be responsible for making available adequate information about the elections to the public, cautioning that political parties spokespersons who are full of mischief will always throw dust into the eyes of the public if they left to debate on such information.

“The waters are gradually being poisoned by political parties communicators and the EC should be advised and not leave them to play mischief with vital info on the airwaves.”

“The EC must be active and deal with the nation; they shouldn’t wait until November before they will engage the larger public which is the major stakeholder in election matters.

He also blamed the various stakeholders of being less influential in their role at the IPAC urging that the various reps of Civil Society Organisations must keep politicians in check in matters relating to the impending elections.
