The Public Relations Officer for Nurses at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Sarah Danquah, has said they have evidence to support their claim that social activist, Ralph Williams, assaulted hospital staff.

Speaking on GHOne on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Danquah claimed that Ralph allegedly slapped the face of a pregnant senior nursing officer when he stormed the hospital with a mob.

CDD's Dr Kwame Sarpong questions fairness of report on Ridge Hospital assault

“… When you look at the video very well, immediately he entered, there were two people, one in black, one gentleman trying to use the monitor on somebody. He went straight to the one in black, it was a pregnant woman, and he went to slap the face.

“There are two cameras straight at the triage so we don't listen to everything. For evidential purposes and for purposes of being very unbiased, we use what will educate us with the triage,” Danquah said.

When asked by the host whether the committee that investigated the incident had access to the video, she said she was not invited by them to speak on the matter.

She added that CCTV footage from the hospital is available to support her claims.

“I was not called to the committee. The media has not gotten to me, and nobody has asked me for the video.

“The pregnant woman was on duty. She was a Senior Nursing Officer and do you know how long you take to be an SNO? She's a boss on her own. She was on duty with her colleague senior staff nurse. He slapped her and, in the video, somebody pulled him away. So, it is on that account that I know I have a case. That's why I don't talk plenty,” she added.

Ridge Hospital Assault: Committee report contradicts nurse's claims

Her comments follow the findings of a committee set up by the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to investigate the alleged assault on a nurse at Ridge Hospital.

The committee stated that it found no medical evidence to support claims of a shoulder dislocation.
