Watch how heavy rainstorm halted the final funeral rites of Dr Omane Boamah

The final funeral rites of the late former Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, one of the victims of the horrific August 6, 2025, helicopter crash, was held at the Jackson Park in Koforidua in the Eastern Region on Saturday, December 13, 2025.

The funeral, which drew a large gathering of family members, government officials, National Democratic Congress executives, traditional leaders and members of the public, did not end as planned as it was halted by a heavy rainstorm.

Moments after the rites started at the Jackson Park, the rains poured out, accompanied by wild storms, which disrupted the event, forcing organisers and security officials to suspend activities to ensure the safety of mourners.

Visuals showed some mourners, who had shown up at the event to show their last respects to Dr Omane Boamah, running for cover as the storm pulled down some canopies and signages at the grounds of the event.
