A video has surfaced online capturing the moment family members and colleagues of a Ghanaian reportedly serving in the Russian army bid farewell to their compatriot after he died fighting in the Russia-Ukraine war.
In the video, the deceased, whose identity is not immediately known, was laid in a coffin at what appeared to be a cemetery in Russia.

His colleagues, also Ghanaians, were heard eulogising him and sharing their final words in Twi as they paid their last respects.
One of them paid tribute, saying, “Damrifa Due. You have fought well. Damrifa Due…,” before ending with a salute as a sign of respect.
Another colleague, visibly emotional, also delivered a tribute, stating, “No one knows what lies ahead of them except God the creator. There is a saying that no life can take what death holds. What has happened has happened and all we will say is for God to keep you safely…”
After the tributes, other uniformed men, believed to be Russian soldiers, who were present were seen carrying the coffin to its final resting place in an emotionally charged atmosphere.
In 2024, a video emerged on social media of a group of young men believed to be Ghanaians, fighting for the Russian Army.
The footage, posted on X by a user identified as @EliasuAlhaji, showed the men, believed to be Ghanaians, dressed in camouflage and armed with rifles.
In the video, the men endorsed Fly Away Travel Agency, claiming it facilitated their recruitment into the Russian Army.
They urged others to trust the agency for similar opportunities, asserting their Ghanaian identities and their current engagements in Russia.

The men, speaking in Twi, said in the video that, “Go to Fly Away Travel Agency, trust in them, and they will bring you to Russia. This is not a lie. We are all Ghanaians, and we were brought here. These are our guns.”
