President John Dramani Mahama will be swearing in 20 High Court judges and one private legal practitioner as Justices of the Court of Appeal on Thursday, October 2, 2025.

Among those to be sworn in is the Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, who is also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area. In private life, he is known as Justice Daniel Mensah.

Videos of the Dormaahene and the other judges arriving at the Jubilee House for the swearing-in have gone viral.

One of the videos, shared by Onua TV, shows Agyemang Badu II sitting and awaiting the arrival of the President. He can be seen reviewing a document, possibly the one to be used for the event. After turning several pages, the renowned traditional leader and judge took a deep breath.

The other judges include Justice Senyo Amedahe, a long-serving High Court judge in Koforidua, renowned for his rulings and judicial work in the case of Ernest Kumi, the late Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency.

Also included is Dr Richmond Osei-Hwere, a legal academic noted for his role in appeal proceedings in the Agradaa case. His siblings, Justice Apangano Achibonga and Justice Mariama Samo, who both serve on the Adenta High Court Bench, are also due for elevation.

Justice Enyonam Adinyira, formerly of the Adenta High Court 1, will also be sworn in, along with Justice Kwasi Anokye Gyimah, a former law lecturer at the GIMPA Law School. His sister, Justice Sheila Mintah, is equally on the list of appointees.
