The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, has made his first public appearance after being released from police custody on bail.

The politician was seen at the week-long burial rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, clad in black cloth as he commiserated with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Abronye granted GH¢50,000 bail

In a video shared on Facebook by Gh Brain on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, Abronye was partly mobbed by individuals who were visibly elated to see him.

One person even went ahead to give him a warm embrace, welcoming him to the funeral grounds.

Abronye, appearing overwhelmed by the warm welcome and love shown to him, reciprocated the gesture with a wave and a smile to the crowd.

He was accompanied by the National Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, as well as other party officials who attended the burial rites of the late Asantehemaa.

On September 15, 2025, Abronye was granted bail in the sum of GH¢50,000 by the court, with one surety, without justification.

His lead counsel, Daniel Mantey Addo, disclosed that Abronye’s health condition had worsened in custody and noted that, "News of the bail has brought him some relief."

Abronye was arrested on September 8, 2025, on a charge of offensive conduct conducive to a breach of public peace.
