President John Dramani Mahama, as part of his official tour of Jamaica, has been captured in a viral video playing traditional drums with a group of Rastafarians during a public event.
The President appeared excited as he participated in the performance. At one point, he raised his head and smiled broadly when a voice from behind the camera, believed to be a member of the Rastafarian group, jokingly suggested giving the President what he referred to as “one roll.”
The President was later heard shouting, “Jah Rastafari,” a remark that generated laughter and cheers from the crowd.

The video, shared on Instagram on August 4, 2026, by Presidential Staffer for Diaspora Affairs, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), shows President Mahama seated among the drummers as he joins in the rhythmic performance while onlookers cheer him on.
In the caption accompanying the video, KOD wrote “All my family and friends know I’m a proud Rastaman, so just imagine how excited I was seeing my boss and President vibing and jamming with the Rastas in Jamaica.”
