Squatters Invade School

Kumasi, (Ashanti Region) 4 Nov. Mr S. K. Bekoe, Headteacher of Wesley College Practice School (Annex), in Kumasi, has appealed to the authorities for assistance to remove squatters, who have turned the school premises into an industrial area. Speaking to GRi, he said the squatters who have constructed workshops, car washing bays and hairdressing salons, among others, are disrupting classes. The headteacher said two big manholes have been dug on the compound for the construction of a tyre alignment and a car wash centre, and these endanger the lives of the pupils. He said several attempts to remove the squatters by Mr Asante- Anquah, Ashanti regional manager of Methodist schools, and Mr I. K. Boakye, solicitor for Methodist Church, have proved futile.
