The acting General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has stated that the party is winning the forthcoming elections, slated for December 7, 2016.

According to him, in order to ensure that the results are not rigged in favour of President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party and its members must protect the ballot by being vigilant at the polling centres.

“Victory is insight,” declared Mr. Boadu on Tuesday whilst addressing members of the party at a rally in Tamale.

Ghanaians, he said, are yearning for change and is evidenced in the president’s desperate resort to divisive language on his campaign trail.

“The Northern region is falling for the New Patriotic Party. The Volta region has already fallen. Upper East yesterday [Monday] showed it. It is for this reason that our president is jittery. Our president is desperate and any desperate person resorts to things that have the potential of destroying this nation of ours. We’ve lived peacefully in this country as one people,” he stated.

He added that “Nobody should listen to this desperate president of ours. We’ve a minister for employment in this country who comes from the Northern region but there is no employment. We’ve minister of roads who come from the Northern Region but there are no roads, our roads are very bad. What is important in our elections is about development of our country. The good people of this nation have taken a decision to change this government.”

Charging members of the NPP to guard the sanctity of the polls come December 7, the NPP’s Mr. Boadu alleged that the election management body is bent on rigging the elections in favour of the NDC and its presidential nominee.

But for the vigilance of the party, he said, the commission led by Charlotte Osei would have succeeded.

He thus used the platform to urge member of the party to monitor the electoral process thoroughly to stem any attempt to rig the outcome.

“I’ll once again want to use this opportunity to thank the vigilant members of our party, like the people of Savelugu...they monitored and made sure that the deliberate attempt by the EC and their printers to cheat the NPP did not come on.

"I want to use this opportunity to tell you that on the day of elections, all of you are polling agents for the party, all of you are monitors for the party, all of you are representing Nana Akufo-Addo of the party, all of you are representing Dr. Mahamud Bawumia at the polling station for the party. And I can assure you that victory is insight,” said Mr. Boadu.
