The Israeli Ambassador to Ghana, Roey Gilad, who represents Israel in Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, has stated that a visa-free policy between his country and Ghana is not happening anytime soon.
In a recent interview shared on Citi FM's X page on August 26, Ambassador Gilad explained that several outstanding issues between the two governments need to be resolved before such a policy could be considered.

One major concern he touched one was that a significant number of Ghanaians have overstayed their visas in Israel.
"I must tell you frankly, I'm not sure if this is possible in the short run. Without going into too many details; there’s quite a significant number of Ghanaians who took advantage and stayed in Israel longer than the terms of the visa," Gilad noted.

He added that there were other outstanding issues his country needs to resolve with Ghana before a consideration of no-visa policy can be tabled.
"There are a few issues that we are ironing out with your government, and when these issues are solved, we might have a policy of no visas, but I don’t see it coming in the near future,” he said.
