UCONN feel Brimah’s absence in loss to Providence

Brimah won a National Championship with UCONN. Brimah won a National Championship with UCONN.

University of Connecticut (UCONN) have felt the heat without Amida Brimah protecting the rim in the team’s 76-90 loss to Providence College. The 26 point loss was the team’s first without 6 foot 11 inch Ghanaian Center and former Captain Brimah who has signed to play for Austin Spurs in the Gatorade (G) League next season.

Brimah spent time with San Antonio Spurs ahead of the NBA season before signing up for the five time champions G-League affiliate a week ago.

The Huskies loss came in an exhibition game that was put together to raise funds for hurricane relief following a series of devastating hurricanes to hit the US.

Without big man Brimah manning the paint, UCONN fared badly against fellow Ghanaian Ben Bentil’s Alma Mater in the team’s first game of the season.

In four years at Connecticut, Tudu-born Amida averaged 6.7 points. 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game and was part of the National College Championship winning UCONN side in 2014-2015.

Brimah could play his way into an NBA roster next season should he continue his elite rim protection displays.
