Star Premier League Round 5: Hearts & Kotoko Win

ACCRA HEARTS of Oak defeated Bofoakwa Tano 1-0 after a gruelling encounter as the Star Premier League resumed after a three week suspension.

Football matches at all league centres in the country returned this afternoon, although the league game between the defending champions and Sunyani-based Bofoakwa at the Accra Sports Stadium received low patronage. The match-deciding goal was scored in the first-half by attacker Charles Taylor through a free kick.

Although no crowd violence was recorded, the security personnel present were called on duty when an official of the visiting team was ordered to leave the arena.

The official initially refused to obey the referee's order but he was finally ushered out of the perimeter by police personnel.

In Kumasi, Asante Kotoko also defeated GHAPOHA by a lone goal scored by striker Nana Frimpong.

In other matches, Dawu Youngsters defeated King Faisal by 2-0, while Obuasi Goldfields scored the highest number of goals with a 4-0 win over visiting Okwawu United.

Real Tamale United, playing away from home due to a three-match ban, defeated Kwaebibirem 2-0, whilst Great Olympics also won 2-0 against Berekum Arsenals, who played at home.

Sekondi Hasaacas held Liberty Professionals to a goalless draw at the Tema Park and at Koforidua, Maxbees FC failed to take the maximum three points as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Adansiman.
