The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has disclosed that he will spend the night among persons displaced by tidal waves in Ketu South.
Tidal waves in the Ketu South Constituency have displaced several residents, particularly in Amutinu, Agavedzi, Salakope, and surrounding areas.
The waves have reportedly destroyed burial grounds, homes, and other properties, forcing some families to exhume the bodies of their loved ones.
Reports indicate that about 600 people have been displaced as a result.
The minister says his decision to sleep at the temporary facility provided for the displaced persons is aimed at experiencing their plight firsthand.
In a social media post, he explained, “I’ll be spending the night with the good people of Agavedzi-Salakɔƒe-Amutinu. It is important for us to feel what they feel even as we formulate and implement a permanent solution.”
