Three suspects escape from jail

Three suspects have escaped from the Tema Fishing Harbour Police Station in the Tema Metropolis, officials have said.

They reportedly escaped Saturday night through the roof of the cell.

The suspects Ebenezer Nyagbedzi, 19, Eliasu Mohammed and Daniel KwameKumi both 20-year-olds were in police custody for an undisclosed offence.

The escapees were said to have been brought back from the police hospital where they received treatment after they had initially feigned illness.

According to the Assistant Public Relations Officer of the Tema Regional Police, Corporal Joseph Barabu, who confirmed the incident to Adom News, Eliasu and Daniel were due to be sent to the Nsawam Prisons Monday.

Corp. Barabu said they were baffled by the circumstances under which the suspects because all the cells are well equipped with security systems.

He said the Police were doing their best to re-arrest the suspects to face the law.

Meanwhile, the Acting Director of the Ghana Police Public Affairs, DSP Cephas Arthur has appealed to the public to report any suspicious behaviour of strangers in localities.

He said the police would reward anyone who provides information that will lead to the arrest of the fugitives.

DSP Arthur also assured residents in and around Tema Metropolis of maximum police protection from the suspects.
